Title: Preferred RP Type?

JadorOnizuka - September 23, 2007 12:02 AM (GMT)
I thought I'd post this and see what type of RP everyone prefers. Through my 12 years of roleplaying, I've seen just about all types on all sorts of mediums. From RP that's strictly combat with no room for character interaction and personal growth to RP that jumps all over the place and allows the players to do whatever they want without restriction.

There are all kinds out there from RP that's totally original artwork, to sci-fi based on movies/tv series, and anime-based RP. I originally started in anime, and after 12 years of roleplaying, I'm just now attempting to get myself back to my original roots that started it all.

Personally, I prefer to have a type. Allowing players to do as they please without restriction would get very chaotic, and players will almost always get out of control in such a situation. So, it's nice to have a little order to the chaos.

Tell us what you prefer and why you prefer it.

I'm not too big on genre. As long as the board is well run and original, I like it.

I generally only really roleplay marauders era at this stage. Although I do roleplay pretty much anything. ^^

I usually stick with some sort of historical 18th century roleplays (especially PotC roleplays)... else I go for action/adventure, so I've voted that and fantasy/mid-evil although I haven't joined any boards exactly like that. But they fitted the description most :)

I don't roleplay real life or real life HS RPs, but I'm open to most others.

The only boards i've RPed on are Sci=fi and Medieval/Fantasy, like elves and such. I like it that way. (whenever i join other boards i'm like..."Dang...i dont have the Force.")

However i'm thinking i oughta diversify

I do fantasy and sci-fi! The game has to have some sort of fantasy element and be very open to character types. Medieval fantasy, modern fantasy, sci-fi fantasy...it just has to be fantasy.

I don't do realistic RPs.

I'm normally for the Fantasy RPG..or Human.

Like someone mentioned above, as long as the RPG board is well run and has at least 10 active members, it's fine with me. I'm not looking for a specific genre. Everything is welcome as long as the RPG board is good and the storyline sounds interesting.

Oh wow, I couldn't choose one. oO; I've been on so many in the past five years that... well, I don't know...

As for forum roleplays, though, I'm mostly a Harry Potter nerd. A site that I'm still on, that was the first I ever joined, is Harry Potter set in the same time as the books, but it's a lot of fun. Then I have one, but it's Marauder based. I hate Harry Potter sites that twist already set information, or a site that is based waaaay in the future (Harry Potter-wise), but I'm not sure why.

I do enjoy a good vampire+shapeshifter roleplay every once in a while, though nice ones are hard to come by. I've done a deserted island one once, but it closed. I HAD a psychiatric hospital RP, but no time to keep it up and now that bloody genre is popping up left and right. >_O Uhm... I've done a few high school/prep school/boarding school/college RPs, just because I've had characters in my head that belonged there, but I've floated away from those because they fill up with 'scene kids' too easy. Not that I don't have 'scene kid' friends, but gosh.

As for... fantasy, like sci-fi, I just can't do because I'm not into the genre as it is. No offense to anyone, of course, I have no problem with it. <3

Other than that, I'm not sure. I wanted to try a wolf RP at one point, but the want died out when I couldn't find one that suited my fancy. x3 I'm sure, however, that if I stumbled upon a nice site one day that was out of my normal-RPing bubble I would probably join... oO;

I used to prefer Harry Potter - so Fantasy when I was first starting out but unless that board has something I absolutely adore about it I'm far more drawn to Original or Macabre boards.

I like having something fresh and new about it. It's kind of boring to see people waving wands around and honestly I'm done highschool and I'd prefer to not go back haha!

I prefer something in the sc-fi genre but I did have my roots in anime and HP stuff..I'm a nut for elven rpg's though well that and vampire places.. I just recently got back onto the x-men wagon after having that bug bite me again for some odd reason.

Fantasy, for sure. It could be because I'm a major Harry Potter nerd, or something, but I love those kinds best. I also find that some based off of tv shows are entertaining as well. Originals are great, so long as I can find the plot interesting.

I generally stick to fantasy RPGs, but if I were to stumble upon a wicked historical one, I would not be adverse to joining that (I actually have had a Holocaust character in my head for years)

It's a hard choice to be honest, especially to narrow it down. I like any rp as long as the plot is good with some twists and turns and what not. Most of the time I'll find myself in Action/Adventure because theres usually something new to do all the time, so it doesn't get boring, though then again, it really depends on how the rp is ran and such.

Fantasy and anime definitely. (: I also prefer PBeMs to GJ/LJ roleplaying and (some) forum roleplaying, as the writing seems to flow better and weaves a wonderful story in the end.

I keep my options open, but I like Anime more myself. If you know the anime well enough, you can work on the SL a lot, and it doesn't seem to be plagued with a lot of problems that HS RPs tend to be plagued with.
